Born west of the Missouri River in North Dakota, Gregory spent much time with family and friends exploring the wilderness of the upper midwest. In 2004 he traveled down the Mississippi River to New Orleans in search of the swing melodies of Django Reinhardt. There he began busking in the street with Traditional Jazz band, Loose Marbles, and soon joined Helen Gillet’s Wazozo Zorchestra. It wasn’t until he met Kiyoko McCrae that he was inspired into the rich past of folk, old-time country – Americana. Together with Daron Douglas, Jeff Boston and Dan Cutler, they formed the By & By String Band when Ms. McCrae was asked to perform at the Abita Springs Opry. Nominated as “Best Country Band” by Offbeat Magazine, By & By released one album of Carter Family songs before they disbanded with plans to release recordings of original songs. Shortly thereafter he joined Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue on rhythm guitar and harmony vocals with whom he continues to tour and play. He began performing solo as a platform for his Americana explorations and original compositions and in April 2014 released a collection of these songs on an album titled, Savage Lands.
